Inclusive Nail Care: How I Make My Studio a Safe, Welcoming Space for Everyone

Inclusive Nail Care: How I Make My Studio a Safe, Welcoming Space for Everyone

Nail appointments are a kind os closeness we don't often name. You're placing your hands, one of the most personal, expressive parts of you, into someone else's care. That means trusting them with your comfort, your boundaries, your identity, and the small rituals that make you feel like yourself. In that space, respect isn't optional; it's the baseline. Affirmation isn't a bonus; it's part of the service. Safety isn't something you should have to ask for; it should be felt from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave.

A good nail space honours who you are without assumptions, judgment, or pressure. It recognises that every client brings their own history, needd snd comfort levels. It makes room for quiet, for conversation, for sensory needs, for gender expression, for anxiety, for joy - whatever you arrive with. Everyone deserves to feel seen and cared for in that chair, every single time.

What inclusivity looks like in my studio:

  • Gender-neutral language and preferred pronouns - I will never assume your gender. At your first consultation, you will be asked what your preferred pronouns are, and if these change over time you're welcome to update me.
  • No assumptions - I  will never assume anything about your identity, pronouns, style, financial situations or politics.
  • A sensory-friendly environment - Options for silence, low lighting or fidgets are always available.
  • Flexible communication - Chatty, quiet, or somewhere in between. You're welcome to be yourself around me, and there is never any pressure to keep up conversation or make eye contact.
  • Judgement-free care - Nail biters, skin pickers, or 'problem nails' are not a problem for me!
  • Accessibility considerations - Breaks, pacing and seating can be completely tailored to your needs.

Whether you want gothic claws, minimalist nudes, or rainbow sparkles, your style is valid and welcome. My job is to help you express yourself - not fit you into a box.
